Cider Saturdays: Abby Sherman

Coming back to the tasting room is local Abby Sherman. Abby is a folk singer/songwriter and has been writing and performing since a young age. Abby is based in scenic Lamoille County, Vermont and has always been driven towards the more artistic and natural way of life. Her passion for whatever she may take on shines through with seemingly no effort. Her first album, 'Finding Hope', which came out in July of 2018, is no exception. The “album represents herself, in concentrated form” says Stowe Today; “She narrates her life through song”. Abby’s songs are inspired by her life and time traveling around the country. They speak of disillusionment with one’s home, being more than meets the eye, and motherhood. Local music blog Country Tracks highlighted her lyrics, saying “Great little details abound in the final song off Abby Sherman’s debut album” in a list of the Best New Songs of August 2018. The emotional weight of Abby’s lyrics is carried by her strong and present voice, the only voice on the album. “Honest and earnest, the young singer-songwriter finds hope when others might throw in the towel” says Seven Days. She finds inspiration from artists such as Sarah Jarosz, Alison Krauss and Patty Griffin, to name a few. Backed by the rhythmic banjo and harmony vocals of Addison County native Nate Gusakov, and the striking lead mandolin of Ben Slotnick, seeing Abby Sherman perform life is no different from the album, and her soulful voice and folky riffs make for a toe tapping heart felt listening experience."
